SBLive 5.1 and XP Drivers/Software - Help needed

I've just upgraded to Win XP and have re-installed my system fresh last night after a couple of weeks on an upgrade from Win ME.
Fresh XP versus upgraded XP is very different ;)

I am confused with the software for my SBLive 5.1.
In the older software (98, ME etc) you could choose to listen to a movie (to enable the 5th speaker) etc - but for some reason everything seems to be very different under XP and I don't (or can't) see this option.
I'm talking about the setting of the tasks - e.g. listen to CD Audio, Listen to MP3, Talk into mic etc etc.
How do I do this with the latest software?

Help! Confused in Florida....

Creative aka SoundBlaster has problems with XP. They can't get their drivers to work PROPERLY in XP. I had and Audigy that I dumped for a Hercules Game Theater XP 6.1 and it has no problems that I can find. Creative will tell you to disable all kinds of settings in your BIOS and their cards need an IRQ without sharing. What Crap!!! My advice is to dump the SB and get a card that will work. Maybe some day SB will fix their drivers instead of coming up with a dozen disables that don't work.

Agreed, creative sound card drivers are crap, the cards would be great if it were not for the driver problem.

Hmmm funny I`ve an Audigy working great with my XP and my friends have their SB Live working great with XP, just because some people get problems does not mean everybody has problems, changing the sound card should be your last option since money does not grow on trees for most people ;).

How do I do this with the latest software?

Install the latest Creative drivers & software, for the settings like enable 5.1 sound etc use AudioHQ and mixer in the software.

Creative driver section .

A reply or two at last ! :D

Actually the drivers for XP work fine - no problem there.

I've never had any trouble with SBLive cards before using Win 98/ME for the record.

I'm more concerned with getting the software that the Live uses to work on XP - if I put the setup CD in - I get an error that the software is not compatible with my OS...surprise surprise...perhaps this is a bogus report?

Basically - is there anybody out there using a Live 5.1 with windows XP?
If so how did u get the software to work? Or couldn't you?
At present I have the drivers loaded and the following software running:

Creative PlayCenter (which I will never use)
Creative Audio HQ
Creative Diagnostics
Creative Soundmixer
Creative Minidisc Center
Creative Recorder.

I'd like to get the Creative Launcher to work - so I can choose tasks etc - i.e. enable my 5th speaker!!! (old way to do this was to choose task of "watch movie")

Any ideas?

I agree with ya totally on their tech support - I had "crackling" on my FPS2000 Digitals (which was a bad connection!) and they wanted me to change IRQ's etc etc and also format my system ;)

Like hell!

Idiots - I have e-mailed then anyway to see what they say - no doubt it will be an inane answer....:(

Don`t bother with the CD installation, you can download the new full Creative driver package from their site,it has everything you need.
etc.

Mem,
I think what I'm really looking for is Liveware for XP?

I have the driver pack downloaded - it is a 52MB file that is really 49.xMB.

I've also downloaded it twice now and installed twice, however it does not have any Liveware.

I've been scouring the net for info - seems that everybody is looking for an XP version of Liveware?
I am currently downloading Liveware 3.0 for Win 2000 to see if that will be compatible....

The latest driver update is only the most basic requirements for your card and a couple of pieces of software to boot thrown in.

Installed Liveware 3.0 for Win 2000 last nite - everything installs fine, however the Creative Launcher does not function.

Guess I need to wait for Liveware for XP then...
