SBC yahoo help

I've had SBC DSL since year 2000. Last week, my modem (Speed Stream 5260) died on me. Called SBC. They "upgraded" my account to SBC YAHOO and sent me a new modem (Speed Stream 5100). Since then, I can only connect for 10 minutes at a time and then I am dropped from the server. If I turn off the modem and turn it back on i can re-connect for another 10 minutes until I am dropped again. I've called SBC and they seem baffled by the problem. My old modem never gave me these problems. Can anyone offer any advice? I'm running 98 if it matters.

I'm not sure if your situation has the same problem I've had. For the past two months I haven't gotten a stable connection with SBC Yahoo. The longest good connection last about 15 minutes on and off, sometimes out for a day or two. Just today, I finally called in SBC and they came over to check my phone line. After several hours of frustration, the SBC guy made a trip to the telephone box just around the corner of my house - found out the cable/line to my house was damaged so he put in a new one. So right this moment, I'm not getting disconnected, I'm enjoying DSL. Might want to find that out from SBC. Worth a try.
