Does SBC Yahoo DSL somehow disable wirelss connections? I have had a wireless network running perfectly for months and sharing a dial up account. I hooked up DSL last night, instaled the software, got a user account, ghosted my system back and put the username and password in the router. I could get online but my WAN light turned off and I can't get it back! I have a netgear FM114P.

Thanks.

Mofunk I have the same setup but with Linksys equipment (router, wireless access point). When I first set up the SBC DSL I installed the set up program on the CD and had networking issues. Their program changes some networking settings some where that I could not find. Uninstall all of the sbc programs and reset your networking on the PCs to DHCP. Just set up your router to PPOE and put in your user name and password.

Oooops, I said WAN, I meant WLAN. I have a computer in the front room that has a netgear MA101 that was working perfectly before and now will not see the FM114P. All the other computers can get on the net fine it's just the wireless that is not working. I have tried to start over with the router by taking off WEP and allowing all workstations to access. The WLAN light on the router does not show up and the the front room system can't find a connection. I was going to reload XP on it anyway so I amdoing that now.

My Boss said that she has never been able to get her wireless to work with DSL either and SBC told her they do not support it other then the 2wire system. I am sure they meant they do not GIVE support but once my wireless died I got worried.

I am not using the software at all, I installed it to create my user account, but then ghosted my system back to get rid off all that junk and am just using the router. I do not use DHCP because I want my systems static. Hopefully the reload gets the kinks out.

Ok.

I had not heard of problems with wireless and SBC DSL before...

I am using the Linksys 54g access point and wireless card in a laptop and it is working fine.

If the wlan light is not on on then I would suspect that it is a setting in the router... Reloading XP might not work for ya.

Good luck.

As always it will be something simple it always is.;)

Well it was simple! There was a time out section that got selected somehow and set to 15 minutes. That evidently disabled the WLAN. I set it to 0 and BAM!!!! I am now up and running again.
