Bad enough that I should consider a $45/month cable modem over $26.95/month SBC DSL?

Yeah, but in my area they were doing deals for $29.95 DSL that's it no add on sales tax from other ISP's.

It's tax!!! here, straight from their website:

Order SBC Yahoo! DSL for a one-year term for $26.95 per month, and receive a $149 Wireless Home Networking kit with $99 rebate (taxes and a $14.95 shipping and handling fee apply), or receive an Instant Credit on a DSL modem -- that's a $99 value (taxes and a $12.95 shipping and handling fee apply). Plus, get free activation and a free self-installation kit.

I realize this isn't the same package that you have, but it's TAX!!! Businesses will chage that.

I dunno. It's not really an issue for me since I only have a cell phone and no landline.

Why didn't your order that instead? It's possible that they added the tax in already to that $29.95 price. Stinkin fine print!

Ok, thanks, open my billed and it didn't say the tax was for the modem, thought it was some sneaky sales tax they were trying to charge monthly. You can't believe the crap they pull here locally.

Another thread reminded me - if you are getting SBC DSL, DO NOT use the software they give you. Get RASPPPOE instead, it is FAR superior to that EnterNet crap.

That would also be why it's a rebate instead of an outright credit. A rebate is always POST TAX.

FWIW
