I was under the impression that you keep paying whatever you were paying even after your contract expires, is this not true? What can I do about this? Thanks!

Somewhere in the fine print of your contract, they reserved the right to increase the fee once the term was up. Not much that you can do other than threaten to switch providers and then make good on the threat should they prove uncooperative. Good luck.

Just re-sign for another year at the lower rates which are 26.95 and 36.95. You could have done it before your year was up.

Well, when your lease is up the landlord can raise the rent right? Why can't your ISP raise your rates when your contract is up?

I'd never pay $60 for SBC. Either figure out how to get it cheaper or switch to a real ISP if you're going to pay $60. My personal experiences with SBC point to them being inept in more than one division, but especially accounting. As a rule, I stay as far away from SBC as I can, but they still carry my phone line.

There DSL has been surprisingly good.

Yeah... I can't say much for their customer support, but the actual quality of DSL has been excellent. Can you really beat up to 3mbps down/384 up for $37 a month? :) Signed up for another year.

I have a similia situation. Before my last contract expired, I rcved a letter from SBC/Yahoo saying that I was qualified a 19.99 promotion rate, all I need to do is call the SBC customer service and extent my contract. So I did call and did get a confirmation from a sbc c/s.

But when I received my August bill, I found that they still charge me $26.95. I called SBC and they donnot know the offer. How wield! just search "sbc/yahoo 19.99" on google, you can still find several links. After one hour on the phone with 2 c/c and one cs manager, the manager finally agreed to call OTHER departmemts to find out this offer, but no promise.

Can SBC/Yahoo not honor his own offer?
