I just got off the phone with them, and they told me their upload speed on

SBC yahoo DSL is 1.5Mbit up and 3Mbit down for $21.99/mo.

The website says 384k to 512k upload though - but two of their guys confirmed 1.5Mbits up.

So i'm confused - figured I'd post here to see if anyone has this to confirm or deny it.

Thanks

I used to have the SBC plan that they used to have for 14.99 a month with the 1.5 Mb DL and the 756kb I think it was UL and when I ran speed test and downloaded stuff it was like 90% as fast as they claimed it would be I could usually expect around 1.3-1.4 MB DLs off of torrent and so I decieded to upgrade to the plan you are speakung of. However when I got the new plan with they supposed new speed my DL and UL went up only ever so slightly. I spent lots of time on the phone with them and had several techs come out to my place before it was confirmed that I was infact correctly connected and under the plan that I had wanted. My advice; stick with the cheaper regular plan.

The highest upload available from SBC, last I checked, was 768 kbps. I doubt they've increased it, but if they have, very cool.

Well, I have Road Runner. Which is plenty fast on the D/L (I get about 4.7Mbit) but upload is like 320Kbps. So its really slow on the upload. If it is 1.5Mbits up that would crazy fast and I'd order it in a heartbeat, but I dont think its really this fast.

Damn, 1.5 is very good.

I doubt it's true though.

I'm pretty sure the fastest upload available from SBC is 608 for those people hooked up to a remote terminal

your next door neighbors are exactly how many feet away? what webpage would let you download at 57Mbit/s? aren't they all limited most of the time?

They didn't know what they are talking about, they don't offer more than 608 up, although they have the capability of offering 768. Their best package (which isn't even offered right now) is/was 6000/608 about.

This forum (or one of the other SBC ones at bbr) is good to ask in, too: http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/ilec,am

It is possible, i get about 1.2Mbit from Verizon ADSL ( I live really close to the Verizon center), and at school we get 13Mbit down / 4.6Mbit up for which we can thank a nice partial-T3 connection.

I'm rocking at about 1000 down, 300 up.

SBC says we're too far away fro their nearest switching station to get the pro service.

It's still the best deal around, for $15 a month. You can't beat that anywhere inside the US.

Ahh thanks. Yeah the guys on the phone were full of sh*t. Oh well, i guess I'll stick with my cable modem, I get around 350Kb/sec up.

Next door neighbors are usually next door...and they are exactly two feet away...my feet. Who cares about webpages...I care about downloading files...

MS updates, large driver files, etc. download in seconds... I'd slit my wrists on 1.5 service...

i got sprint dsl 3mbps

it's crappy because their customer service sucks and the service turns off every now and then... for playing starcraft online, what the freak, I get discon'd and then I enjoy the 45 second wait screen.

overall, I'd rather get something more cheaper in price and still have the reliability of DSL
