SBC connection software for speedstream 5100

I used to have the speedstream 4060 and for the whole 2 yrs time this damn modem has been dying out whenever it likes and now it finally died. I tried to install it with a 5100 but I could not get it to work and installing it with the SBC yahoo CD will freeze the computer at some point. I tried just installing the enternet 300 but it seems to lack some kind of loading software on top of it. any ideas?
