SB6141 v MB7420

Anybody got a quick opinion on which of these two cable modems will perform the best for gaming? I can't make much of the online comparisons I've read in the last 24 hours. Thanks... zz03

The SB6141 is older, and unload supports download speeds up to 343 Mbps. The MB7420 is newer, and supports download speeds up to 686 Mbps. Neither one really be "better for gaming" other than it being reliable. Other issues like ping times, signal strength, and other things are controlled by your ISP and wiring (inside and outside of your house)

FYI, the SB6183 is a lot more comparable in speed and features to the MB7420, than the SB6141 is.

Thanks very much. I should have said I already own the 6141 but was looking at them for someone else and was considering upgrading. I really have no problems with what I have but always looking to futureproof.

As long as the modem download speed isn't outpaced by your ISP plan, you are good to go.

That. If you're chugging along with a <250Mbps cable connection, there's no reason to upgrade.
