I'm thinking about one of these. Before I attempt to sell of everything in my current rig, had some questions about the onboard audio.

I do quite a bit of voice-over-IP in CS, MSN messenger (while gaming), and some thru Roger Wilco. I used to run the onboard audio on an MSI board when I was running an XP setup. The voice came over pretty bad to everyone else.

In my current rig, I've got a Audigy, so it's no problem. However, if I go with the SFF, I do not want the Audigy in there, as it blocks the little vent holes that would normally be open to the AGP card.

Anyone got some info on this subject?

On a side note, Newegg dropped the prices on these considerable. The Black one is down about $40 @ $290 w/free shipping, and the regular color is down about $30 @ $300 w/free shipping.

the pci slot actually sits on the inside of the agp slot, so the audigy won't block anything. the onboard audio is excellent however.

Yeah, the onboard audio sounds great. It does eat up more CPU power than a dedicated sound card, though.

I'd recommend reading this story from Tom's Hardware guide, because he tested the Realtek audio chipset that the SB51G uses against other sound cards.

Keep in mind that the on-board sound won't function when overclocking more than 10-11 [bus] MHz. Using a PCI sound card lets you overclock up to ~20 MHz.

Then again, the SB51G isn't known for its overclockability!

The on-board sound on mine has been working just fine, including lots of voice chat for games.
