SB PCI XTREME Issue (I Think)

I have a PCI express SB Xtreme soundcard and I can not for the life of me to get the microphone to work in game or out of game. Any help? Please

System Specs:
O/S Vista 64 bit with all applicable updates
Intel E8400 Wolfdale
6 GB SLI Nvidia OCZ ram
MSI 780i P7N Diamond (MB)
dual 9800GTX EVGA video cards

Prior to upgrade, the SB worked great.

Loaded WIn 64 bit MSI VGA stock drivers and applications: no luck Remvoed them with driver cleaner
Upgraded the win64 drivers: No luck
reinstalled the drivers using the Creative SB 64 bit drivers: No luck

Device manager shows all is enabled and funtional.

Mic does show on SB as present and also on windows audio

Bought a new mike. NO difference

Headset mic : Razer Barracuda? HP-1 5.1 Channel : no luck

Thank you and it is solved as far as getting the microphone to be recognized. The second part of the question is how to keep the darn thing from defaulting back to half boost instead of being able to turn up the gain on it and keeping it as high level?

Oh the world we live in. LOL
