SB PCI 128 driver update question

My friend is running Win98SE and I recently tried updating the drivers for her SB PCI 128. I downloaded the drivers for her but there is also .lib file that the website claims the system also needs. I downloaded the .lib file and the driver file. There is no readme or help file in the .lib file but after some searching I found that they all go into the Windows\System directory. I extracted them into that directory then ran the actual driver executable. It claims there is no SB PCI 128 card in the system, which is wrong. Ideas?

I remember installing a PCI 128 in a win98se system and it found the card on booting windows, but said that no waveset files were availiable for it. I ended up finding them on the creative asia website listed for the ensonic 128 sound card. I believe the files have a .ecw extension and come in 3 sizes, 2,4, and 8 Meg tables. You only have to download one of them though and copy it to the windows\system dir I think. I don't recall an error about a .lib file though. Good luck.

There are different versions of the PCI128 card. If you look closely at the driver files page at Creative, you will notice there are drivers listed for CT4700, CT4750 and CT4751.

This number should be stenciled on the card. This has tripped me up before. Even still, I have had limited success updating the drivers for my own PCI128. Also, these drivers will not work on a fresh install, they are for upgrade only.

Here's a shortcut to the drivers page.

Good luck. I really hate the way Creative has this set up.
