SB Live! Value

I've been considering using a very old but working original SB Live! Value in place of my integrated AC97. There was a thread a while back about this and most people said that the stand-alone PCI soundcard is a better choice.

But before I install it, will it simply autodetect and XP install drivers? I remember in the past when installing Creative's stupid driver + applications that it would make my boot time way longer.

I downloaded the newest LiveDrive package + LiveDrive update. But since I only have the Value all I really need is some friggin' drivers that make it work. Anyone still use one of these?

Of all the SB cards I have bought I only install the stock drivers and never use upgraded drivers from creative. I have always had issues when upgrading to the latest drivers from creative on many systems and many dif cards. They really suck in the driver apps dept. XP should recognize it automatically as it is an old card, so you shouldnt have any probs.

I've never had any problems installing the SBLive under WinXP for any PC I've worked with, including my own. Just install using the base drivers and then update using the latest from Creative. Other than being old, there's nothing wrong with the last set of v2.52 drivers.

When I install the creative drivers package i do a custom install & chose drivers only, there's not need for those crappy apps.
