I have a problem. Was listening to some MP3's with winamp and went to download something and the MP3 began stuttering. System specs are as follows:

P3-500
generic BX motherboard
Matrox Mil 2 32mb
SBLive Value
128mb pc100

Never had this prob in 98 or ME. Is it just too much for this computer to run 2K. I heard there was a prob with the sblive drivers before SP2, but thought it was resolved. Anyway, running SP2 and the Drivers only from sblive.com. All help is apprecieated. Thanks.

Could very well be a memory constraint, 128MB isn't very much for W2K Pro- You'll apprecaite that 6400- big difference!

Hmm, no I do not. How do you enable it in 2K? not under device manager like in 98.

Go through Device Manager, but the DMA settings are not on the Drive properties like Win9x. Find your IDE controllers in the Device Manager and the settings should be there.

ok, yes, DMA is enabled on all the drives, so am I stuck merely because of the amount of ram? should the P3-500 be enough to run 2k if it has enough ram, off to look for memory. thanks again.
