What's the difference between these 2 cards? I am looking for places to save money in my new comp, and going from an X-Gamer to a Value would save me $40. Would it be worth it to get the Value instead? I will use the comp for gaming and some mp3 listening, but that's it. Thanks for your time.

Check Creative's webpage, but I believe the only difference is the software bundle. Functionally the cards are identical.

I was under the impression they were the exact same card except for the software that came with them.

Yes, they are in fact the same card. All of Creative's Live! series of cards are exactly the same in every respect. The only difference is that some come with old crappy software, or have the Live!Drive.

No No No!!!

1st generation: SB Live, SB Live Value. Live comes with sdpif (not optical) in/out panel. Value's extension header has fewer pins than Live.

2nd: SB Live X-gamer, MP3+, Platinum, digital/player 1024 (asia/europe market) - all are same card, added rca spdif out, different software bundle, Platinum comes with Livedrive.

3rd: added 5.1 speakers analog output.
