SB Live Value & NIC Problems

so, I am trying to get my network card working in my comp, and after my 3rd bootup, there is no volume control button on the taskbar in the right bottom corner of windows 2000 pro. So, naturally, I opened winamp to play a song and all I hear is a hum sound.

After .01 seconds, a message comes up saying that the device is out of the range.

also, I tried MANUALLY installing the Sb live, but the computer doesn't detect it either.

also, I have tried moving to another PCI slot, but to no avail.

Do you think it is damaged?

edit: on top of all this, MY stupid network card REFUSES to work. I tried THREE (3) different NIC (3com, SMC, Kingston) with all the updated drivers, but nooooooooooooooo, this stupid comp of mine refuses to recognize or just let it work. I'm about to stab my brand new Lian-Li case with a screwdriver.

any reason for, suddenly, problems? I never had so much problems before in my life.
