my audio setup is epox8kha+mboard and sb live value connected to stereo system via line out socket,i would like to connect the pc speaker but its not working ,i enabled onboard sound in bios and connected speaker to mboard but nothing(although it beeps at power up)what is the simplest way to connect it.i want line out for mp3playback and pc speaker for basic stuff such as mame32 emulator etc.,thanks in advance.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why don't you get a cheap ($5) set of speakers and a splitter for the line out port? Just turn off the speakers when listening to MP3's through the stereo. Then you don't have to worry about sound card conflicts between the motherboard and the SB Live card.

The PC Speaker port on the SB Live is a INPUT, not a OUTPUT. You wire the PC speaker output from your motherboard into it so that normally anything coming out of the pc speaker (the BEEP when your turn the computer on for example) would instead come out over your main speakers.

I am a bit confused....when we say PC Speaker....we mean the little speaker unit attached to the front of the case inside yeah?

Mine is connected directly to the speaker header on the motherboard and works fine....I have an SB Live Player 5.1 and have on board sound disabled.

Have you also considered having the stereo on the front audio out and cheap computer speakers on the rear audio out??...I actually have mine setup with 4.1 surround and a splitter on the front that also sends output to my stereo.
