i put my finger on the emu10k on my x-gamer and i cannot leave it on for more than like 2 seconds. is this thing supposed to run this freaking hot??

You can always attach a small, cheap heatsink from a 486, or you could try a Blue Orb if there is enough room between the cards. As for me, I just leave all of the empty PCI slots open in the back of the case, which allows enough air flow to cool the SB Live to what I consider a reasonable level...

I think that if the SB Live is running fine without any problems there should be no reason to try to cool it. For god sakes its a sound card, there is no reason why it should overheat. If you do however decide to cool it down try adding a blow hole to your case or one of those slot coolers.

dynamix thats exactly my point is a damn sound card thats running insanely hot even after i just rebooted and havent played a single sound lol
