SB Live! questions (specifically audio cable)

Got a new soundcard, only to find that it didn't ship with any internal audio cables. I have the CD_SPDIF cable from the DVD drive, but there's no port for it on the Live! Value; it marks it there, but it was like someone had ripped it clean off!
Anyways, is there an online store that sells the CD_IN cable or any other kind of cable to go from the CD/DVD to the sound card?

Of course, if I could at least get the sound card working, this would be the least of my problems :(

Sorry to tell you this, but the SB Live! Value doesn't have an internal SPDIF connector, but the place where it should be on the board (top-right corner) is still clearly marked. You would need to pick up the SB Live! Platinum to get all of this.

Of course, you should still have an analog connector wire come with your CD-ROM drive and connect that to the Live! Value. It just won't be a total digital signal.

I have it on the Live! and I do not use it at all, most newer programs can just read it of the IDE cable, namly, WMP7, Sonique, Xing

the wire I have coming from the cd doesn't fit the cd-in on the live value. I had an AWE64 before, you'd figure that they would keep it simple but now I have to find a new cd-in cable AARRR.

I have a sound blaster live! mp3+, and I dont use the cable event though it has the connection. Since i use my ATI for dvd mpeg decoding, I dont need the hook-up. I did have the hook-up and used it before but decided the extra wire running through my case was not worth the supposed difference. I noticed no difference whatsoever.

So if I do get it up and running, the sound shouldn't be affected by this missing cable? I know I can test system sounds, but what about the audio coming from the DVD drive?

Audio from DVDs are done by the IDE cable, and also in most CD Audio programs do know

Okay, here goes...
A month back, I put the system up. Posted fine and installed Windows okay. I got the soundcard in, yet no sound came out. I played around with it, put it in all PCI slots, yet never got any sound.
Sent it back, two weeks later, I got a Value, had the X-gamer. I reformatted, reset the BIOS, and reinstalled Windows so I would have a completely fresh system. This time, the software never installed (used the CD). It was missing a DevCon32.DLL file.
Tomorrow (when I finally have time) I will reformat and install the modem then download the LiveWare 3 software (did that with the X-gamer too) and install it. If that doesn't work, then I'll probably take it to a shop and see what they can do with it (or send it back and get a PCI 128 or something).

System specs...
AMD Duron 700mhz
ASUS A7V
128 MB PC133 Corsair RAM
ATI Rage Pro 32 MB
Toshiba 1402 DVD
Soundblaster Live! Value

I've got some more tips to follow, guess I'll see what those do tomorrow.

Thanks

"Sorry to tell you this, but the SB Live! Value doesn't have an internal SPDIF connector, "

Ummm maybe on some really old ones or something. But both my SBLVs and I know there's one on my friends SBLV because he's using it with his DVD.

Hmm, that's interesting, thorin. I've done a lot of component installs lately where I used to work and all the Live! Values were messing the SPDIF connector from the card - the one I bought personally, too.

I think they were all OEM pieces, think that has anything to do with it? It really oughtn't.
