SB Live! Platinum alternative

Is there a SB Live! Platinum alternative on the market? I kow about the Hercules Game Theater XP, but the unit is seperate of the computer... and there's no remote. Anyone else have some (cheaper) alternatives? Maybe even one that will work with VIA chipsets without a patch?
 
As far as I know, SB Live Platinum and Hercules Gamer XP Theater are the two top dogs and you won't find anything much better for the performance/options.

To go cheaper then HGXPT would probably mean to lose some of the key features (I'm assuming) that your looking for.

Edit: Turtle Beach Santa Cruz but it has no neat little livedrive or ext. box. only a versajack is about the coolest thing.
 
well... simply.. I want the Platinum for less than the $150 I see it going for at the shows... <g>... Basicially.. I don't really need all the spiffed out hookups.. but I liek the idea of the hookups (like RCA and optical) and remote. I really want the remote.
 
I don't think there's any other sound card with a remote. The gametheater XP doesn't have one, but I like it better than the Live and it's also a little cheaper.

If you really want a remote, there's one out for the Hollywood+ DVD card, but it might not work with all programs. You could also buy a cordless keyboard.
