Okay after struggling through an install of Windows ME, I finally got the option of enabling SPDIF out in the configuration of PowerDVD 2.55. However I don't get any sound! When I disable the SPDIF passthrough option I can get PCM sound, but if I enable it (and the ADS2000 decoder for the Midilands detects the switch between PCM and AC3) I don't get any sound!

I've tried both the SPDIF optical and coaxial outputs but I don't get a thing!

Help! I've blown so much money on this it's sickening.
 
Wow this post was a long time ago 🙂

When I posted this I didn't know Win2k didn't support AC3 passthrough. I found out that AC3 only works with SB Live! in Win9x operating systems. In Win2k you have to settle for 2 channel PCM. However there's been some fluff floating around that PowerDVD 3 has AC3 enabled for Win2k... so it remains to be seen what exactly is going on.
