I'm building my dream system one part at a time. I want absolutely the best sound card out there. I don't care what they cost, just an amazing sound card. Well I take that back, nothing rediculous. I was thinking the SoundBlaster Live Platinum 5.1. I have always liked creative products and the live series. For now, it's just music for me. Once I get my GeForce working on my mew mobo I will also want to play games. If I ever get a DVD, I will want to watch movies. What do you think about the Live Platinum 5.1? Is there anything better? What is the difference between the Platinum and the MP3+? I mainly listen to MP3s. What about the Live Platinum?
The Audiphile 24/96 had been suggested but I still like the SB Live Platinum 5.1 It has a remote, how cool, and the live drive IR with optical and 5.1 decoding for the analog speakers. Not to mention great for games. Not to say the audiphile isn't a great card, but I just think it is a little high end for me and belongs with the Videologic owners. I challenge you to convince me otherwise.
I am plannind on getting the Klipsch Promedia 4.1 There is no doubt in my mind these are the best computer speakers ever, come on, they are THX certified, what other computer speaker can say that. But there's one problem, no center channel or dolby digital 5.1 decoder. Hoe does the live 5.1 series change this? So, it has dolby digital decoding, but if I hook up the speakers directly to the sound card, they will not connect to the amp. Or is the 5.1 signal transfered over the RCA cables, or however they connect.
So what do you use, especially if you have the Promedia and any SB live? How do you like them?
Any opinions on the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz or the Philips Aucustic Edge. I am using Win 2K. Any problems with that on any of this?
Does anyone have this setup? How do you like it? How should I connect the speakers and sound card?
