SB Live in WinXP ?

Hi,
Has anyone experienced problems in Windows XP with their SB Live? I've got the X-gamer version, which is very similar to the "Value" version, I'm guessing.

Anyway, Windows XP says that the hardware is working properly, but when I try to get into AudioHQ (part of the SB Live software), it tells me that my driver is corrupted. (Or words to that effect.) I've tried updating to the latest drivers, but nothing changes.

When I try to play MusicMatch Jukebox, it will crash on me after 1/2-hour or so. The sound will go crazy and sound like a skipping record.

Themes: No themes have sounds except when I press the Start button and select a Start Menu Item. In this case, I hear the theme's sounds for those events, but otherwise they don't work.

Games: The two I play right now seem to work just fine. Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Serious Sam SE.

Joystick: I haven't tried too much with this yet, but my game port on the SB Live doesn't seem to work.

Has anybody experienced any of these problems? I've experienced the problems under XP and XP SP1. (Just "Ghosted" back to XP without SP1).

Thanks

I would try uninstalling the card totally, moving it to a different PCI slot, then installing the latest drivers fresh.

I'm still using my original SB Live Value with WinXP and haven't noticed any problems with AudioHQ or in general at all. I'm not sure which drivers I installed though. 😉

I have a SB Live X-Gamer running on WinXP on the machine I'm typing this on. No problems here, but I only have the bare drivers installed, I didn't install any of Creative's other software. The only thing under my Start Menu -> Program Files -> Creative -> Soundblaster Live folder is the User's Guide.

Boogak,
That sounds like a good thing to try before I totally remove the card and re-install.

I don't need all the fancy (bug-ridden) software extras.

Thanks.
