Hey,
I was just wondering if the XP issues with the Sound Blaster Live! Cards was fixed yet? It seems like I really good price for a 5.1 sound card, but I'm running XP.

Thanks,
Justin Sampson

I have a SB Live Value card in my wifes computer with WinXP as the OS and it seems fine. Just get the XP drivers from their site. I have heard of problems with the SB Live cards though. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones.

Been running with a SBLive value in one of my WinXP machines (Athlon 700 + KA7-100) since the OS has been out. Never had a problem with it. Did recently upgrade to a Fortissimo II, but that was because I needed the optical outputs.

Hey,
Thanks for the replies, looks like I might pick one up afterwords. Anyone else have something to contribute?

BTW, I will be using the 5.1 capabilities, and from what a heard it was setting the card up with more then 2 speakers that caused the problems (the computers froze). I assume this was fixed?

Thanks,
Justin Sampson

I have the SB Live! and XP with the updated drivers. Occasionaly I have mild crackles but it is barely noticeable. And besides that might be more to do with my stupid VIA mobo that I currently have.

I'm running an SB Live!, with XP, with the KT266A (Epox 8KHA+), and a 4.1 speaker setup, everything's running fine, and everything works perfectly. I'm just using the most recent XP drivers from Creative.

Ok, great. What's the differance between "Sound Blaster Live! DE" and "Sound Blaster Live!"? The DE one is what I'm looking at, and I assume the only difernce between the names is software? So one driver work on all the different SB live cards?

There never was an SB! Live / XP "issue". It was a VIA "issue", which, despite the fact that some people have had no trouble with the latest VIA south bridge (8233), has not been corrected. Many, many people are still at odds trying to stabilize a VIA-based mainboard with Live! / Audigy. For some, no combination of 4-in-1's, BIOS updates, and various third-party patches helps.
