SB LIVE is just not working with my setup. I have tried everything. THe drivers (latest) installs fine but once my comp. starts detecting SB EMULATOR I get a blue screen and it crashes EVERY SINGLE time. How do I fix this problem and is tthere anyway to tell my motherboard to NOT install EMULATOR? Please, I need your help, I have been working on this for THREE days (non-stop hour after hours)!

When you install the Sb Live there should be an option to NOT install the emulator. Maybe if you click custom install instead of typical? I used to have one, I think that was what I did.

If you can't do that, go look in your System Properties and look for Question marks or Exclaimation points in the device manager. Then check for IRQ conflicts, etc.

trance,

If you can't get into windows hold f8 during startup and choose safemode. Then get into your system properties in control panel, find sound blaster emulation double click it and check the box that says disable. The only thing you might lose doing this is the ability to use console emulators or run ancient programs.

good luck

konichiwa: what drivers were they?

duck: I would have attempted to do that but once my computer detects SB EMULATOR it CRASHES. I then have to go to safe mode to diable SB LIVE so it doesn't detect it again. I know what you are trying to tell me but the EMULATOR is NEVER in the Device Manager becuase of the crashes.

When I enable SB LIVE, its automaticallys re-detects EMULATOR and *bam*, I get a blue screen.

I need to know specially how to install it without having to install the emulator somehow (ie what drivers).

Note: i DO have ALL the latest drivers and they don't seem to help at all.

I remember something funky about my live gamer and Celeron2 not working right way, and getting a very specific blue screen, where it mentions a problem with the EMU. I think it has to do with the sse insructions, but not sure. All that I did to fix it, was get the latest drivers, not just live ware 3.0, because that won't fix it, look for the latest driver file.

I don't remember, I think LiveWare 3. I uninstalled all old drivers, took out the card, deleted it from device mgr. and then re-installed it and loaded up Lw3, and then when I installed it gave me an option for Custom install, and I unchecked Sb Live-16 emulation because I knew I wouldn't need it and that it took up an IRQ.

Try that.

I have ALL the latest drivers (Liveware 3.0 and sblw9xup.exe). I have reformated several times using only the latest drivers and it still doesn't work. I have switched the SB card to differents PCI slots and nothing. ITs the FREAKING EMUALATOR that keeps SB LIVE from not working!

Try to disable the UDMA66 controller on the MB. While it never gave me that serious of a problem, it DID cause distorted sound. One can never imagine what sorts of conflicts your hardware has cooked up. :)

The drivers that fixed me, are sbl9xdrv1199. The current are 0005, which are 5 moths newer then what I got. But I can send you the zipped file if you need it.......here is a line from the read me file:

c) Improves SB Live! compatibility with some versions of
Intel's PIII 600MHz and above processors.

As you can see below, I use the same configuration and I don't see any problems... what is the OS? Is there any conflict between the IRQ used by the SB Emulation and another device? Try changing it ...

Best luck,

I had this exact same problem when I had my MX300. Different card, same problem. Sound Blaster emulation...and every time I woulkd try to boot up, i would get a BSOD. Only way to boot was to go into safe mode and remove SB LIve Emulation. Problem was, every single time, it would re-install itself, no matter what.

You see the cycle?

Here's what I did. I pulled out every single friggen card except for the video card. And from then on, after every format, I installed the sound card as the very next thing after video card, and everything was fine. It has to do with f00kin IRQ conflicts. Take out all your cards and install just your SB Live and I bet it will work.

Good luck and lemmie know :)

The problem I used to have was also related to SB Emulation. Unless you have old games or stuff like that, I'd recommend you to just disable it. You can try removing the SOMETHING.SYS that the instalation puts in the config.sys, if I'm not mistaken.

I personnally had it disabled it in Win98SE since I'd only have problems when I use the SB emulation specificaly.

Now with Win2k I see no problem at all.

Why is it that I cannot choose custom install for Live!Ware3.0? ALl I can do is see whats going to be installed (everything!) and choose the destination of the files....
