SB Live! 5.1 performance on A8N32-Sli Deluxe

Hey guys,

I just built a new rig and the only thing I've been waiting to get is a sound card. right now i'm using the onboard audio from the mobo (ASUS A8N32-Sli Deluxe).

I know that the onboard audio uses CPU resources for it's processing. I have my older SB Live! 5.1 PCI sound card lying around, and I'm wondering if putting this car into the computer is going to better than using the onboard controller?

Also, I hear a lot of interference on the onboard sound controller, which is the reason for wanting to install the SB Live! 5.1 in the first place.

Thanks,
Riz

I use my Audigy 2 on my A8V presently with excellent results. The outboard sound is ok but not better than separate soundcards. You can check by using one, and the results should make your decision easier.

I used a Live 5.1 for a while at one point and it definitely sounded much better than the onboard ALC850 audio to me.
