I've previously owned a SB Live Value and was very happy with it(Used with VIA KT7 mobo). When I did my last upgrade, I got a lot of recommendations to use the on-board sound, as I only use 2.1 sound. The sound card doesn't seem to be able to play the necessary sounds for Ghost Recon and Medal of Honor, so I would like to get a new one that, of course, does.

-Both the TBSC and SB Live are in my inexpensive price range, does any one provide lower CPU usage?
-Do both sound very similar? Clarity? Low noise?

Thanks Guys...

Once you've had turtle you'll never "shell-out" for another card again...

What`s wrong with the Philips AE or SE ? They both sound better then either the Santa Cruz or SB Live IMHO & are in your price range.

Santa Cruz is excellent. but if you do more gaming than music listening than i would pick up an Audigy if you can find one for the same price as the Cruz.

The Santa Cruz is a far superior card to the SB Live 5.1, however, the Philips cards are nicer than both and cheaper too.. :)

If you decide to go with the Santa Cruz (I did!), CompUSA has a great deal right now. A Santa Cruz and a set of Z-540 speakers for $61 plus tax and shipping. Their website shows the bundle at $79, but when you put it in your cart it shows up as $61.

Here's a link if you're interested: Turtle Beach Santa Cruz at CompUSA

It's all in what one perceives are best.......................the Santa Cruz seems to be the overwhelming favorite, but others like the AE and still others the Audigy..............there is no "absolute best" you simply need to go listen to them all and choose which one YOU like best!;)
