I recently bough an SB Live! 5.1 X-GAMER to replace an Aureal Vortex 2 card when I upgraded my system. I also bough an ATI Radeon DDR LE (OEM) The problem is that I used to use a CineMAster DVD decoder card which uses the VESA video connector to connect to the Video card. The ATI OEM card does not have this connector. I did not get too worried however, as the SB Live claims to support AC-3 audio and the new ATI card is perfectly capable of decoding the DVD video.
Than the problems started. I have the system hooked up to an external Dolby Digital receiver. When I was using the cinemaster card I had no problem getting the computer to output the AC-3 stream directly to my receiver for decoding, However with the SB Live! I cannot get this to work. I have enabled the "Digital Output Only" option, disabled the cards AC-3 decoder, and set it to use 5.1 speakers. Still it will not pass the AC-3 signal from the DVD drive. It will however pass the signal when playing back the sample .AC3 files included on the instalation CD as part of the demo software that came with the card.
Has anyone had experience dealing with an SB Live! and DVD issues? Please help.
