SB Live 5.1 ( Cable Connection Question) ?????

Ordered a SB Live 5.1, which was a OEM. No connection cable came with the card. Picked up a cable at the local store and 1 end has 2 connections 1 black plug and 1 white . The other one is a black plug. I see where the 2 black plugs go. 1 to CD-Rom the other to the Sound Card. What is the white plug for. ( small white plug with three wire connection )

Is this plug not required.

The black plugs have three wire connection.

You got a "universal" cable. The white plug is used for connection to a different kind of header. The intention is that you use one or the other, not both.
