I built a SFF over the summer (not the computer in the sig) but it has been having problems with i believe the onboard audio. For example, playing WoW and running Itunes at the same time will cause it to crash/restart. It is not an overheating problem as running WoW without Itunes works fine. Only when the two run together, otherwise it is flawless.

Specs Are:
AMD A64 3800 @ 2.4ghz
MSI RS480M20-IL ATI Radeon Xpress 200
1gb DDR PC3200 (2x512)
Seagate 120gb 7200rpm Sata 150
NEC ND-3530A
Zalman CNPS700B-AlCu
Aspire X-Qpack
PNY 6800GT
Windows Xp Pro Sp2

It may be an issue that I have not set the sound drivers/software properly but adding a sound card should eliminate the issue (knowing that a soundcard would be better anyway).

Here's my question, which would be best as i have two sound blasters lying around, granted both are old. They both are Sound Blaster Live! cards, the CT4830, which i believe is an OEM card, and the CT4760, which is a retail gaming version.

I have actually found one review that sort of compares them, http://www.nvnews.net/reviews/sblive/live_xgamer.shtml , it is quite old (2000) so Im curious if anyone has any more up to date experience

Ha, well working drivers is important so if those are too hard to get (for the CT4830) to work the other card(CT4760) is supported by creative i believe. I got another question though. If I plug in the sound card, the front audio ports on the case, do those remain connected to the motherboard (and continue working) or is there a way to connect them to the sound card?

I'm not sure on the old SB Live cards, but creative makes it a pain to connect front panel stuff to their cards. (The can sell more cards with front drive bays then)

Some people run integrated audio as well as a soundcard but I'm not sure if that would work well for your specific combination of parts.
