Hi folks,

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me sort this out. I have a SB Audigy2 ZS that I wish to hook up to my Logitech Z680 speakers. How do I go about making sure I receive true 5.1 suround sound (digital) DTS and all the other goodies to make games and DVD's sound their best?

In opening up the case to my PC, I do not see a digital audio cable from the sound card to the DVD drive. I do have on the back of the PC digital (optical and coax) and SPDIF in/out ports. Any ideas?

DD/DTS tracks from movies are read directly as data, like the video, so there's no need to to use anything other than an IDE cable from the DVD drive to the motherboard. For best quality and surround audio in games, use three minijack to stereo RCA cables to connect the analog outputs of the A2 ZS to the analog inputs of the Z680 and decode DD/DTS tracks using either the decoding functionality offered by the ZS's drivers, or via the software DVD player.

Note, not all DVD movies offer DTS as an option and there is no real consensus about whether the commonly used half-bitrate DTS encoding beats a DD encoding of the same master source.
