SB Audigy- Surround won't work =\

Okay, i'm running 5.1 Altech Lansing speakers. I have everything setup correctly, but it seems like there is no output coming from the Audigy card to the surround speakers. I have the win2k speaker settings to 5.1. The speakers themselves work because I switched the cables to see if the surround speakers worked from the front speaker spot. So the speakers work.... must have something to do with the output with the surround on the card?

:frown:

thanks for any help.

If you've got your wires hooked in correctly, then try running a video file avi. or .mpg... If it doesn't click and kick in then check your settings in Sound and see if you've enabled the setting for your speakers....

I assume you mean you're not getting any sound from the center speaker, correct? Not all apps or media files have "true" surround or 5.1/6.1 support, so cards like the Santa Cruz, Audigy, etc. have to emulate it for the center speaker. To get it working, you need to enable Creative Mult-Speaker Support (CMSS) under Playcenter 3.0,.... and no, you don't need to install the entire suite of Creative utilities if you don't want to.

no not the center speaker, the rear speakers aren't getting a signal to them. You should be getting sound out of them when playing any mp3 file. I've gotta little dial on the speakers that adds more surround or none... i have it fully turned up / mid range. Maybe my sound card went bad? that would suck cause it's like 3 months old.

Brian, i'll try that multispeaker support, but windows should already enable it through the 5.1 setting to send a signal.... but i'll try it out tomorrow
