Ok, I use to have an old SB Live! Xgamer in a Win2k machine. I still currently use the same machine. Well, after I bought a SB Live Audigy card OEM w/ Driver CD, I started getting skips while playing mp3's. Lets start from the beginning per say - I removed the old SB Live from Device manager b4 shutting down and installing my new Audigy card. I never installed the SB Live drivers for the old sound card in Win2k - it always worked fine, no hiccups or skips. Installed the Audigy per driver instructions from Creative, and then installed CD drivers that came with it, and then installed the updated drivers from Creatives website. Everything seemed to install fine, no probs. Then after a day, i guess, I was cruising the net and i noticed my mp3's (in winamp) skipped for like a half a second. Now, this has never happened until I installed the new sound card. This is speratic too.
My setup is an AMD 1.2 TBird, 512 DDR Crucial, Epox 8KHA+ MB BIOS-3/4/2002, IBM 60 GXP 40gig HD, Win2k SP2, VIA4in1 4.34 drivers because the board was tested with these drivers from Anandtech - so I stuck with them. I defragged the HD twice within a week of each other after this started.. thinking maybe it could help. Well my MP3's still skip, periodically. Well, lets state this - everytime I listen to my mp3's they skip for half a second; not every song but periodically. It's really starting to piss me off BAD!!! I heard so much praise for this card.... so I figured "What the heck, lemme try it." Well, I'm wondering if I made a mistake now.
So, If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.!! Thanks.

I`ve the same motherboard and sound card (except using XP OS)but don`t get the problems you`ve,anyway you tried moving it to a different PCI slot, also when I disabled onboard sound in bios I also disabled both Midi and Game Port address in bios (page 4-15 of bios manual) as well, you might want to consider trying the latest 4 in 1 drivers(4.40) as well.

Btw my Audigy is in PCI slot 2 (counting from AGP slot).

Good luck.
