A lot of software is like that... the manufacturers are pushed to a certain deadline to get a working version of the sofware out, regardless of the bugs that may be in the code. I mean, look at much of the sofware that Microsoft puts out - some of the release versions might as well be beta versions. If hardware manufacturers wanted to wait until the drivers are 100% bug-free on all operating systems that the hardware is designed to work with, then the hardware may never be released.
However...
I do see where you're coming from with your disgust with the mic not working. I'd be pretty damn upset if I bought a soundcard and wasn't able to put it to full use (i.e. the mic not working in CS). All I can really say is that you can just hope that they come out with an updated version of the sofware/drivers for the card that will fix that issue.
