In the System manager I get a big yellow question mark in front of this:
"PCI Multimedia Audio Device"

I have a SB PCI 64 and it worked just fine earlier (when I used Win ME).

I have just reformated my HD and made a clean install of Win 98 SE. What is wrong? What should I do to get the soundcard to work?

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

I had that problem before with an OEM card. I couldnt even download drivers from any creative site i had to track down the original driver CD to get it working. GL.

Whaqt can I do? Can someone send me a file or something?

I have experienced this problem, the solution may sound dumb, but if the sound card is not FULLY seated it will not work. Make sure the very back of the card is is all the way in the slot. when i originally got mine the screw clip where you attach it to the case was bent a little, therefor, the back of the card was raised. hope this helps.

Checked, teh card is firmly screwed in place.
The system manager reports code 28 - The drivers for this device are not installed.

<< try installing audiopci drivers from soundblaster.com >>

The only I found were for PCI 128. I don't want to try installing that. The CD that came with my ASUS A7V133 MoBo had SB PCI 128 software which I tried installing but it screwed up the whole system so I had to do a complete reinstall of windows. I'm not looking forward to a third full reinstall of my system in one single day.

It's looking more and more like I have to dump the PCI 64 card and buy a new one. Very annoying.
