Did you see some of his passes yesterday? I remember one that was a laser to a receiver with 3 patriots around the receiver. I yelled at the TV "keep saying he can't pass!" I swear all the tebow haters crack me up, it's like they don't even watch him play. I'm not saying he's great or that he ever will be, but he's a lot better than the haters make him out to be.

It wasn't a laser and the three Pats were each about 5 yards from the receiver.

Broncos lost to a team they were supposed to and Tebow had a great performance passing.

How? B/c he only threw for 50% against the worst Pass Defense in the league and the Pats best pass rusher out of the game?

Hell, I remember the stats from the 1st quarter and Tebow's were MUCH better than brady's.

I love the whole Tebow phenomenon and think it's really good for the NFL and its fans. Just look at this thread! It's really interesting how his run of success challenges conventional NFL QB wisdom, even if it is more chimera than enduring reality.

No matter what, you simply have to hand it to this young man as to how he's made the very most of what opportunities to win the games he's been in have handed him. His run has been real-life awesome.

He's delivered. That's nothing to sneeze at.

Whatever else finally shakes out about his long-term suitability to fill a position that primarily requires elite-level passing prowess, I admire how he's risen to the occasion.

But the absolute biggest treat here will be watching spidey implode and melt down into a steaming puddle of salty tears and crazed partisan regret when the photos of Tebow going down on a naked, cackling Janeane Garofalo on a dirty and torn anarchist flag in a seedy corner of some mythical /OccupyDenver encampment while screaming, "Single-payer health care for everyone!" and "Canada Rulezzz" come out! :awe:

who gives a shit about stats if you lose. and i did watch the first quarter (and only the first quarter), and i just remember commenting on how every pass he threw was a duck w/no spiral to the ball.

oh really? 11/22 for 194yds with no touchdowns in a 41-23 loss when nearly 1/2 his passing yards were in garbage time late in the game after the game was already over, is a great performance passing?

i'm going to have to start agreeing with the people who are claiming the tebow fans are simply people who know nothing about football.

Having Orton go for a 300 yard + 2 or 3 TD game and knocking Denver out of the playoff race.

Or having Denver sneak into the playoffs, and then getting absolutely destroyed by a Baltimore or Pittsburg team in front of an enormous audience.

I spelled it Bree's cause I'm an idiot. As for putting Tebow in the same category, I was simply making a point that even the best QB's lose. So for Tebow to have lost 2 games so far really isn't that bad. Everyone losses sometimes. To expect anything else is just silly.

jason campbell had a 6-2 start for the redskins a couple years ago.

the skins had to win 5 games in a row to make it to the playoffs a few years back, and todd collins lead them to that when campbell was injured.

tebow is just having a streak right now that won't last, just like those 2 guys above did, who are average/lower tier qb's, if that.

The thing is, I think he can and will improve. He has the desire to succeed, he's smart, he's not going to let success go to his head and he has intangibles. That combined with the fact that he has tremendous vision and running ability and I think you have a QB that is going to get better and continue to win (not every game, but in general).


Now, the Bronco's will most likely make the playoffs. And if they do, they probably will and should lose in the first round. Let's be completely, 100% honest. The Broncos, as a team, are very very poor. Look at what they have done over the last two years without Tebow. They've lost, repeatedly and horribly. They traded their only good WR. They have inexperience all over the field and their defense is AVERAGE. They defense seems better now because they play a ball control offense most of the time. But that defense was atrocious prior to Tebow taking over. To say they are a good defense now is a joke, they are average.


IF the coaching staff gets behind Tebow.. and I mean really gets behind him, if they can bring in some talent on offense and improve on defense a bit more, I think you have a legitimate team that can compete. yeah pull up the dregs of the league and even Tebow is comparatively elite. On second thought, probably not.

Funny all the apologists at play, pundits or otherwise. After the Broncos RBs rumbled for 167 yards in 1Q, the Patriots outscored them 35-7. Tebow did make a few good throws to a seam in coverage; but as others noted, he also threw plenty of wobbly 15 yard throws. But besides the explosive first quarter that revved up the stadium, it was barely a contest at all.

All he does is win, in my book. Does that mean he won't lose some games? Sure he will. But he's still just a winner.

Man I just went down the list of CURRENT starting QB's. You say they are shitty starting qb's, well guess what? That's what we have in the NFL nowadays then. The bottom line is this, anyone who says Tebow shouldn't be an NFL starter is freaking crazy, because there are a ton of other QB's who become starters that are much worse than Tebow.

There are not 32 Tom Brady's in the league. There are 10 elite QB's than you have the rest. Tebow as toward the top of 'the rest' and has a lot more upside than the others.

An interesting thought was brought up on ESPN Radio in Chicago...when Jordan was playing for the Bulls, ESPN, or any other sports network, NEVER aired a 10 minute segment of Jordan highlights built in to one of their shows. Sure, he had highlights that they showed, no different then it is today. There were shows dedicated to him after he had retired, but that is only because HE IS THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER OF ALL TIME. That is it.

But for some reason, Tebow, a below average QB who is playing with a defense that is playing out of their mind, gets a 10 minute highlight reel before a game? Dude hasn't even played an entire season. Are you serious? His play does not warrant a 10 minute highlight reel. It simply doesn't. Tebow is a media darling and that is it. Drew Brees is ONCE AGAIN approaching the single season passing record and is the most accurate QB in NFL history yet ESPN just gives it a one line blip. Fuck that noise. Tebow is a craze, like the wildcat offense, that will die a quick death next season and the Broncos will be handcuffed with either keeping him around or pissing off the fanbase. Lose-Lose.

I think the Broncos will still make the playoffs, with winnable games left vs Buffalo and KC. The Raiders are still the Raiders, and the Chargers have dug perhaps too big a hole to climb out of.

And as many have already pointed out, they'll promptly get blasted by the AFC North's wildcard qualifier.

I totally agree with that. But your argument appears to say that he's better than a lot of the QBs in this league, and you use a bunch of guys that aren't even expected to be starting.

Don't get me wrong--i like Tebow, I like the fact that he wins--I think that is easily the most important factor. Who cares about his numbers if his team is winning? That's all that matters.

I actually root for Tebow but I can understand the hate because of the excess attention. I like him because he causes excitement and confounds the "experts" and talking heads on TV but I hate attention whoring in general.

I think he's an ~average QB (below average passing but definitely improving, above average running, above average leadership), but he gets way too much credit for the wins (and losses). He does deserve to continue starting for the Broncos, though, since the results speak for themselves but it's tough to keep having Barber run out of bounds.

If I told you there was a QB who took over a 2-6 team and is 5-1 this season with *four* 4th quarter comebacks and the 5th win was a drive to break a tie in the 4th quarter. He just wins. Who is this awesome QB? John Skelton. So clearly, W-L is more than just the QB and Skelton doesn't get 1/1000th the praise/hate Tebow gets.

Football is a big-time team game. Alex Smith isn't as good as Brady/Brees even though they had the same W-L going into this week. Orton isn't better than Rodgers because he won the game yesterday.

I guess the "injustice" is that he gets all of the attention because of his religion/good guy attitude/pro-life commercial to kick it off while his teammates are busting their behinds to help win games too. And then you have ESPN talking about him 50% of the time while guys like Matt Stafford have four 4th quarter comebacks of 10+ points getting a sentence in there before the talk goes back to Tebow.

So while I'll go along for the ride, I understand that there's going to be tons of hate because the guy has been put on a pedestal from off-the-field stuff.
