... can I turn around and sell it on eBay or something ? I mean will it still work for the new buyer (if he/she uses SprintPCS) ... does SprintPCS somehow tie a new packaged-phone to my name ?
 
I'm sure that'd work out, but you'd need to cancel the contract on that phone if it was ever activated. I don't think that would be a problem with your contract, but then again, they might try to hit you with a fee if you're paying extra per month for service.
 
That extra phone won't even be opened from the new packaging... part of a buy1-get1free deal... and I don't need the extra one. But no, I'm not going to tell Sprint to keep it if I can cancel my cost for the first one. 🙂
 
Good plan. The way those phones work usually is they have a number on them. So when you power it on, you have to call the center and have the cust service peeps program their network to accept your phone. That's when your number is assigned, etc. You should be in good shape.
 
Are you sure that they will give you the extra phone if you don't activate a second line? If not, you could try doing that, get the phone, then cancel the second line after a month.
