Saw something on the road that really angered me

I was driving to the grocery store in Baltimore when I saw an older model crown victoria (common among inner city people as a car...I dont know why) and inside were two young men laughing. They had fake police lights on speeding down the road driving recklessly. If I had a chance, I would have reported the licence plate number.

And it was obvious that they were not police officers, if you know what I mean.

It's definitely illegal, I think it falls under impersonating an officer.

One explanation for Crown Vics is, those are frequently used as police cars and other state vehicles, and then sold at auctions. (ever seen the Blues Brothers movie ?)

Which is a good source for a cheap rugged car, for personal use or as a taxi.

fake police lights as in spotlight? or real flashers on top...

the cars are sold at state and city auctions.. and still have the spotlights on them and they are legal and do not have to be removed.

back in 90-95 when I lived in Florida we would go to the auctions and buy the troopers old 5.0 notchbacks.. they still had trooper paint on them and paint the car all black to be legal but they still had those chrome spotlights on both sides that when people saw would think it was still a trooper 5.0 and slow down and stuff. was kinda fun sometimes...

Yea some kid in my town got pulled over for that and was arrested for impersonating a police officer. And ironically, he wanted to be cop. Fat chance now.

Real flashers inside the vehicle where the rear view mirror is.

People buy crown vics because they are mad cheap used - those cars are POS and depreciate like no other. My roommate has one (grand marquis that is).

They depreciate like crazy, but they're very reliable. American companies have trouble building compacts, but they do well with full-size.
