I think there may have been more than one movie based on The Stand. I saw the made for TV one. It wasn't pretty good actually. Followed the book pretty well, but it obviously lacked in comparison to the book (which I think was almost 1200 pages long hehe).

Thought this is turning into a Steven King thread.
Another book I really LOVED was "watchers" by Dean Koontz

Any Koontz fan's in here?

(DON'T see the MOVIE! It Pissed me off BIG TIME!!)

Do yourself a favour and do NOT see the movie for IT before you read the book. It's all messed up. Things that happen in the first few pages of the book happen in the middle of the movie and such. It's also really watered down and would spoil the book. I wasn't impressed with the movie, but people I've talked to who have seen the movie and not the book say that it was good.

well you can't really compare movies and books, a good movie moves you in a different way then a good book. its just a totally different format😛

and yea, what took you so long to see it🙂 it was the first movie i saw based on steven king.. and of course i didn't know it was until later😉 i'm still waiting for a special edition dvd to come out😛

i didn't really read the book (which i'm sure is probably better for many people),
but I saw IT and it was a really good movie (i saw it when i was like 10)... and it
scared the shiat outta me...

Well, the movie for the Shawshank Redemption followed the book very closely. That's one of the things that made it so good.

IT, however, changed the plot around entirely. It works much much better in the book. I honestly didn't like the movie because of how it paled in comparison to the book. But whatever.

<< it was mesmerizing.. simply put, the best movie i have ever seen in my life. im glad the movie really focused on the moral messages conveyed by the story, not just the story itself. like "hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. and no good thing ever dies" and patience. I will never forget it >>

watch it a 2nd time, its even better when you know wtf is going on!

I saw Shawshank Redemption for the first time on Saturday night. Great film! I didn't realize King wrote it though, hm, very interesting.

Yeah I just saw that a little while ago too. It was a good movie eh? I was really surprised how good it was, I really liked it.

The first time I saw Shawshank Redemption, I was about to cry...it truely was a great movie! I think I even made a post about it!

Does anyone know if it won any awards! It damn well should have! Morgan Freeman and the other guy were AMAZING!

It's so depressing. When the old guy gets out of jail with the job and the cars and everything I can't stop crying.

Great movie. A true classic in every sense of the word.

goood flick! would almost wanna see it again (i very against seeing movies twice.... simply cuz theres so damn many movies out there)

Read Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King. It's one of his best non-horror works, and IMO one of his best overall.

Did you know his wife Tabatha (SP) is a writer too?
I read one of her books (there may only be one) wish I could remember the name.

this is the best movie I have ever seen, period.

Is even better than Schindler's List.(although this movie is excellent and contains no vice whatsoever)

The thing that really annoys me is that this movie didnt win any major award.

ex. Oscars (forest gump got it instead, I wonder how much bribe the jury received)

Also, It didnt make it to the top 100 American movies list.(American film institude..this movie is way better than shining, a piece of garbage imo)

At least this movie is voted as the second best movie in IMDB(the first being godfather)

PS The novel is not bad, but it is ignominious when compared to the movie.
