Was driving home from a friend's house and saw my old 2000 Chrysler 300M on the road. I traded it in this past November for a 2012 Chrysler 300S. I knew it was my old car because it still has my Yakima racks on the roof and the same crack in the front fascia.

I had the thing for 12 years and seeing it, brought on a flood of old memories. The many road trips to here and there. The trips from LA to San Fran to see the girlfriend, and finally its biggest accomplishment of getting me to Anchorage, AK from California in one piece at the start of winter. No major issues through the years. I wish I would have kept it, but I just didn't have the room. Funny how I didn't really realize how attached to it i've become til now...

Oh come on! We all know that those Chrysler cars immediately fell apart in the driveway. No way anyone drove one for 12 years. Not unless a parts truck followed it around.

I used to feel the same way about my '91 Eclipse GS Turbo - loved that car. I basically traded it to a friend about 5 years ago. He used it for about 4 years then sold it to a 16 yo kid - AFAIK it's still running fine. He lived just a few miles from me so I'd see the car once a month or so, and kinda wished I'd kept it even though I had no real use for it any more.

My first car was a 1988 Volvo 740 GLE. Heavy as a tank, had a gutless engine and wasn't much of a looker. Loved the car but had to get rid of it as repairs and maintenance were getting too costly.

I did that with my VW Scirocco. At the end of 12 years, I broke the frame where it connected to the front right wheel. To go straight, I had to steer like a full half turn left, and when I slammed on the brakes, you could feel the right tire flopping around through the steering wheel. I had it welded probably 3 times til I finally gave up and gave it to my brother -in- law. He drove it for another year or so. I think it's still sitting out in the southern california desert rotting away.

I felt the same way about my Isuzu trooper. Then it started spraying coolant and oil all over the road. It was then time to put it down.

When I got rid of my 1996 Galant, I saw it a few years later to the guy I gave it to. It was in immaculate condition, and had a ton more miles. A few months ago he told me it was totalled in a fenderbender.

Broke my heart. I had so many good times in that car.

I see what ya did there! :D

Got me thinking about my previous ride and my previous girl....I loved both but there was a very good reason why I left both behind... when you find something / someone better it's a case closed and going back is asking for nothing good really hehe
