I was quite surprised to watch the boot-up sequence.

It was just like a normal PC - normal BIOS splash screen reporting a P2-400 CPU and 128 MB of memory.

It then booted Windows NT 4. It got to the windows desktop, where it sat for about 30 seconds, running various .BAT files. It had all the normal icons, like 'My computer' and 'Network neighborhood'. I think it even had internet explorer.

Eventually it loaded the ATM application, which then told me that 'there [was] a fault', and that I couldn't have any money.

It would be funny if the program had a memory leak somewhere so every time it was used like $0.33 was missing (besides the normal surcharge for using it) so by the end of the day the machine had made like $1000. $365,000 for the year...that damn ATM has more money than 99.9999% of the individuals on this forum. ;)

Sorry...I'm playing with my new keyboard...it's sweet!

The Fiery printer server on the Xerox DocuColor12 at the office runs NT. I'm still waiting for the day that bad boy goes nutz.

<< Seeing an ATM do a NT Memory Dump is even more amusing. >>

Yeah, what the hell is with those things? The PCs at my school are running NT4 (why, I have no clue) and we get mem dumps all the time. And of course they have every privelege revolked (can't even change the clock...) I can't figure out what the hell is up. Just curious since I'm not into NT much..

has anyone seen an ATM give out double the money??
I have.
a couple months ago, the BOA ATM in the dorm gave out double money. Withdraw $20, get $40 back, withdraw $600 get $1200 back :)
But a week later BOA took back the money from people's accounts who have BOA. But since i have another bank, they didnt take my money away from me!

Back in college someone screwed up and reversed the $10 and $20 slots. Everyone was lining up for free cash. It was wrong as hell but as college students, every dollar counts. I managed 7 withdraws.
