It's too new. Console units are cool, but that looks like the junk I grew up with :^D I'd like one from the late 50s.

$34.93? that's about $24.93 more than I've seen them sell for at auctions, and I've seen a lot more than one of those at auctions.

Really? I think even the phonograph would be worth more than $5.

Well now it will at least get you this thread.
Our "hipster" will probably find this thread. I overheard the guy loading it recommend that she search for the model on the Internet. I shouted out that I tried Google already and got nothing. I don't think they heard me.

It's a 1 MV 38 in(ch) B&W stereo console by Magnavox.
Searched "1MV38IN" just now and only found this thread. ...and there's no way it's 38 inches diagonal.

Entirely depends on how rare they are. These things aren't.

It's only the 4th production run. Doesn't sound all that common, but you're probably right.

That cabinet on the left was an old TV. I walled in the interior with hardboard that I covered in black velvet and installed a couple lights that come on when you open the doors. It's all walnut veneer.

Dream on...most of those old consoles were 21 to 24 inch max.

You're right. After working my google fu, it appears to be a Magnavox model mv381n. I haven't been able to find anything else out though. According to their numbering system, it's from the late 50's to early 60's. There are similar model numbers from 1956 to 1959.

That old, eh? I placed it as late 60s, early 70s. If you're right, I was way off.

I gave it $10 for the whole thing. Believing it's worth more would be like hanging on to that 15" CRT monitor from 1988 for 20 more years and calling it an "antique" and thinking it was worth anything. If anything, it would have negative value - what they charge you to haul it away. Those cabinets were incredibly common in the 60's.
