Saw an '04 GTO in my neighborhood yesterday.

I almost mistook it for a Grand AM - The thing that caught my eye were the large, flashy "GTO" badges. It's rather bland, but still a nice looking car. Still for $30+K, I'd rather have something that is more eye catching - like the '05 Mustang :D

Can tell it's bland from the pictures... but they aren't any better in person. Stupid GM. They had a good thing going with the impalla's with the LT1 and let that go to waste. Then they try this one out, nice drivetrain but the body is meh.

A neighbor down the street had a Dodge Ram RT10 in his driveway w/ temp plates for a week or so, but it's been gone the last few days not sure if he bought it or not. Almost didn't notice it, as it also is a sleeper but the specs are nice and in general (evenw/o the v10) That's a nice looking truck.

GM needs help.

I saw two in one day. One of them was driving down the street and I noticed it and then my eyes caught an M roadster going the other way. My eyes followed the M roadster.

I went down to the dealership to check them out and while they are better in person than in the pictures, that's not really saying much.

Note to GM.....FIRE every one of the idiot designers. That is all.

Also I Bet they blame poor sales of it to excuse them to decide to never bring back the Camero or keep production of GTO up for several years.

The cladding on the Ram SRT-10 facia make it look God-awful ugly. If I were interested in buying a "performance truck" then I would wait for the SVT version of the new F150.

In any event, yea the GTO is pretty bland, but it still looks nice. I saw a yellow GTO pulling out of a neighborhood Saturday afternoon. It made me rubberneck if only for a second.:)

dress the gto up a bit with better rims and maybe some minor ground effects and you'll have a looker.

This is a very performance oriented car--a sort of sleeper. Sure, it looks like a cavalier, but line up with it. It will blow the doors off an 05 rustang

Um.. 5.7l V8 manual tranny.. I remember when that used to be the only requirement for a fast car. Now, we get mad at fast cars for not looking fast.

That's what happens when you rebadge an Aussie car and try to sell it here in the United States at minimal cost all in the name of "heritage"

Looks about as boring as a Camry. Gimme a G35 Coupe over this thing anyday.

I wasn't trying to imply that the GTO was ugly by any means...it's somewhat pleasant looking with its clean lines. It's just that I was expecting more - I thought it looked great from the pictures on Pontiac's website but was deeply disappointed when I saw it in real life. True, it's an awesome performance car, but for $30K+ of my hard earned cash, I want both damn it! Performance and Looks :D A shaker hood, air scoop,...something to set it apart from a Grand AM. I hope I'm not as disappointed when I see the '05 'stang in person.

I think it looks okay, not great, okay. It's a bit prissy looking.
It is a lot better than the usual Pontiac product of the past though.

The GTO is a better car than the new Mustang. Better engine, better transmission, better suspension, better interior. The ONLY thing I don't like about the GTO is the small trunk. Seriously, if I was in the market, this would disqualify it for me, because lets be realistic here. I'm going to need a practical car. (of course realistically, i'm not even in the market for a car anyway) :)

As far as looks and heritage go, lets put this in perspective
68 GTO
69 Tempest

Boy that GTO is a real striking departure from the FAMILY CAR that it was based on!

How can you say the new GTO is bland and still compare it to the old GTO (which was even blander!)?

I'm sorry but the new GTO > G35C and other sport coupes.

LS1, 6-spd tranny, nice suspension, and those smooth good looks...its a clear winner.

This isn't the 1960's. In it's day, it was a hot lookin' mamma. Today, you have family sedans that look smokin'. The new GTO looks like banana pudding.

And the GTO is far from state of the art. It's engine and trannie may be from the Vette, but it's flabby underpinnings date back to the 1994 Opel Omega (same chassis as the unloved "ziggy" Cadillac Catera).

I would love to own one, but it's just too much money for me right now. I have a 94 Firebird now, and I love the power of that, Id be in love with the GTO. Yes it is not flashy and doesnt stand out a ton, but then again when I think about it that makes alot of sense. This car is not marketed towards people in their 20s Id imagine, especially with a 30k price tag. Id imagine their marketing it to people who were around when the original GTO was, and honestly I think it might work for that.
