Saw a M5 probably going at it with a Mustang SVT Cobra

As I was getting on the freeway yesterday I saw this dark blue M5 just blast by going probably around 100. Then 5 seconds later I see this black Mustang Cobra zoom by me as well. I can't say for sure if they were really racing but they were definitely going way faster than everyone else. So if they were racing, the Mustang got its a$$ handed to him.
 
A lot of times I will start hauling a$$ when I see another car that is. Not because I want to race but because you start a train of fast moving vehicles and greatly lower your chances of getting pulled over. Especially if you have a good radar detector, and give yourself a good distace between you and the beamer. The cop will gun the beamer first and give you time to slow down. This works well with laser too, since the only time you will have notification to slow down - if the cop is using a laser - is if he is gunning the car ahead of you and your detecotr picks it up.

I've done this before actually. I can't help but crack up when I start slowing down and see the guy in front of me get pulled over.

People dont give each other leads on the freeway. It's usually one car is the behind the other and they gun it or side by side and then go for it.

Sometimes what you see isn't really a balls-out race. I had some guy in a high end Porsche 911 want to race my GTO, but I let off because I decided that weaving through traffic at 130+mph was just not a good idea, and he didn't feel the same way.

Freeway races are never races; just spirited driving with a temporary companion. But regardless, even though I despise Bimmers, a new M5 would smack anything from Ford, save for the GT40.

But even the new M5 needs two more cylinders, 50-100 more HP, and less curb weight to pull the same performance as Mercedes's E55 AMG has been putting out since 2003. It just goes to show that no matter how fast something is... on some level there will always be something faster.

What makes me laugh is when, say, a ricer runs up alongside a Ferrari; tries to engage the driver; Ferrari driver refuses; then riceboy runs to his friends and says he took a Ferrari.

Dude you're comparing one car that's 7 years older than the other car. Sheesh, at least make it a fair comparison...we know the beamer kicks ass, but geez be a little more discreet about it. 😉

Yes, I realized that but I was trying to compare the models that I saw on the freeway. I believe the 03-04 Cobras were supercharged and doing low 13's. If it was this year Cobra, it might have been a different outcome.

While a Cobra will never have the level of refinement of an M5, you could easily buy a $1500 Fox body Mustang and dump $68K in performance mods and it would much much faster. Looks is an opinion so that is moot, races, on the other hand, are purely scientific fact.
 
what year cobra and what year m5?

if it was an 03+ cobra i doubt it.

but if it was an 2006 m5, probably a drivers race

and if it was a 2002 m5 and a 95 cobra, than ya, cobra would lose



but 03+ cobras own
