Saw a Lincoln MKZ at the stoplight

Lifer
seemed to be very decked out. i was higher up in my van and the interior looked decked out and plush. never seen one before.

anyone here have one?

i don't like the view out the rear of the ES350 myself. it's too narrow and hard to see out of.

is the MKZ one of the triplets or is it the new one?

i was going to go test drive one... you like it? it seems nice, but adding those packages jacks the price up very quickly.

It drives really really well. The electronic steering might bug you at first, but it feels effortless afterward.

I haven't floored it yet (its my Dad's) but it has great power. Very quiet and smooth when sitting inside.

Indeed the rear visibility is pretty bad.

We got ours for the base price WITH the first package (no nav). So we have the additional airbags, nicer steering wheel, rotating headlights.

We also got the dealer to throw in the cargo mats/net and floor mats + spoiler.

I sat in an MKZ at the dealer. While I liked the interior, and the materials were great, I hated the design. Hated, hated hated it. The dash is really tall, idk, I just didn't like it. I liked the Sable I sat in 100x better. That's just me though. Go to your local Ford Lincoln Mercury dealer and sit in one, it's not like it costs money.

The old MKZ shares the same platform with the Mazda6 and Ford Fusion. The new models aren't out yet. The current model isn't that great of a car IMO.

What happened to the zephyr?

Lincoln seems to be changing all their names from words to MK-something. I guess it's referencing Lincoln's past with all the Mark-# cars. The MKZ *is* the zephyr.

It also might help people to separate their new cars from the grandparent / taxi cab / mafia stereotype of their 80s and 90s and 00s Continentals and Town Cars.

Yeh, they switched to the MKZ nameplate when the 3.5L came out in place of the old 3.0L duratec.

It is just a gussied up Fusion/Milan.

Those of you in Detroit/Ann Arbor should see the MKS on the road already, I've seen two with manu plates. Even though I worked the auto shows all season, it's still nice seeing Lincoln's baby on the road in real life. I hope it sells well, the "new" 3.7L and eventually the EcoBoost should be big draws.

ES350 here

I love the looks of the ES350 (haven't driven one) but am reluctant to buy one because of the persistant 6 speed transmission problems that plague ES350 and the V6 Camry (I think the 08 Avalon also has this transmission). If the transmission failure rate and also flare up between gear changes had been corrected, I would be driving one today (Consumer reports dropped the Camry from it's "automatic" recommended list because of the V6 Camry transmission issues). Too bad...🙁

They have been resolved, but rumors still loom so Consumer Reports and customers still get scared. We were scared of it when we bought it, but the dealer reassured us it was a problem with the very first batches of the car and has since been resolved.

I don't think you will see any issues if you are buying it now (unless it is used). We got ours May 2007

I like the Zephyr name better. At one point I was strongly considering an MKZ, but also insisting that the dealer order some 05 badges and put them on 🙂

Then I decided I didn't want to spend 30k on a car. Then after that I realized I'm 10 mins on the metro to work, so I still haven't bought one. Supra's still in the shop for a head gasket. I guess I'm just going to keep it.

Go to a few Lexus forums and you'll see that is has definitely not been fully resolved with even new TSB's still being issued for it including 08 models. Toyota/Lexus still has a major problem on their hands, IMO.

Could also be the way some people drive it. I have not heard of the problem occuring in Canada though.

We only have ~2500km on it mostly because we never let it out all winter, and we had our driveway redone so it was also stuck in the garage for a few months last summer.
We are trying to sell our other car before using it much.
