I was driving with my girlfriend to school and she sees a bunch of police lights behind us. I didn't think much of it and then I look ahead and there are two other police cars waiting in front of the exit that merges into the highway. I'm sure there were way more ahead I just couldn't see. There was a little bit of traffic.
I knew it was a high speed chase but I couldn't see anything yet.
Then I saw a big Expedition with chrome rims speeding down the highway with both of it's front wheels blown out. It was sparking and it was swerving lanes like crazy. There were about 15 cruisers behind it and then all of a sudden I see a cop car spin out of control and hit the guardrail.
I was in a state of shock. The cop car was destroyed, but the cop survived (he came out of the car with a thumbs up). At this point I was angry and in a state of disbelief. My girlfriend was crying. Nobody wants to see a cop die. To think of it is the worst feeling ever.
The Expedition crashed and the guy got out and ran but the police picked him up. I didn't see the guy. All I saw were a bunch of police cars down the hill he ran to and police walking back up the hill.
I have a lot more respect for the police now and I wish scumbags like this get sent to prision for a longgg time. He could have seriously killed someone. Now I kind of understand how cops beat up suspects after they do crazy stuff like this. Adrenaline gets pumped and you get angry that people are so careless for the safety of others.
oh and those who live in VA, this was Fairfax police and VA state police. I believe I also saw Alexandria police as well.
