Saw a Dell 300m today

I was doing some work in the library and this chick put her stuff down on a nearby table. She set up a brand new Dell 300m and I sneaked some discreet glances at it over my ThinkPad T40.

It looks like the Gateway X200, except it has a smaller screen and no optical bay - is it a rebadged Samsung like the Gateway?

Anyways, the machine looks quite nice, and I did get to see the LCD - very sharp, very clear, and good veiwing angle.

Anyone own one and want to comment?

Yikes! My suspicions are confirmed! Samsung seems to make machines with decent build quality. Maybe that's why Dell went with them.

Some of Dell's machines of yesteryear were godawful (Inspiron 41x0 and 8200 for example) in terms of build quality.

Checking her out.

That's what they all say.

J/K.

lol... no no pics and no ATOT thread 😀

Lets keep this on the subject of the 300m 😉 - does anyone here own one?

my friend has one. it is quite sexy

screen is sharp, bright and has a pretty nice viewing angle.

keyboard is pretty responsive. keys are positiones pretty nicely since im not a natural typist and i didn't make a lot of errors as i expected it being a maptop keyboard

there is no ghosting at all when playing a movie. of course playing game is a different matter for its integrated graphics (haven't tried)

it is a pretty fast laptop for its size. it has no optical drive built in, of course.

overall i really liked it. maybe the X31 would be better? the 300m is lighter and smaller than the X31 but i'll take an ibm any day...
