I've got a savings bond issued on 12/1997.
All the sites I've gone to are telling me the 100 dollar savings bond is worth about 60 dollars.
Is this correct? I've been told by other people it should be worth atleast 500? ??

It's an EE series bond.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Well I Can tell you its NOT worth more than $150. It really depends on how many year maturation they are as opposed to how much theyre worth. i.e. 5 year 10 year etc etc.

EE series bond is sold at half value, so that $100 bond was purchased at $50. Its guaranteed to reached its full face value in 20yrs (or sooner). Ain't no way it can be worth $500, just go check it at the treasury dept website for the absolute answer.
