I can save after i buy a car I want as well can i notLets just say I make $2.5k a month (non busy, non chrsitmas season months), I give $800 to my mom to cover insurance and pay part of the rent, I then have $1700, I save another $900 per month and have $800 to spend monthly on gas and what else (out of $800 month tuition is paid too at a rate of $400 per month) not after I purchase this car, also during next year back to school and christmas season monthly income goes up again for that short time, so whatever I bring in extra 70% goes to savings and 30% to whatever else I want.
How does this sound for savings? Good or no?

You take home $2500 or thats gross ??
If its take home $2500, then thats like $3500 gross and thats like $42K a year for a 20yr old with no education.
Thats very good income at such an early age.
I know many people will tell you to save save save and not to waste money on a car.
My view is that its OK to splurge on a car you really want and then save after that.
I'm 23 with $61k gross, $3,600/mo take home, $1,700-$2,000/mo savings.Originally posted by: CTrain

N/A Supras can be had cheap. My friend picked one up and put a PT61 turbo on it. It's slow stock though. An S2000 will easily beat an N/A Supra in pretty much every way.
The engine is stout and will take it, but needs larger injectors/lower compression for optimum turboing. Otherwise, the transmission is garbage. Which is a huge expense if you want to go to 6spd. You're looking ~ $6k for that swap. Other alternatives can be had but they aren't a whole lot cheaper.
Unless you NEED to have a Supra, don't bother if you're on a budget.
I'd go with an S2000 if you want some small and quick out the door with plenty of potential for upgrades.

ok I've decided what Im going to get (and its not a sports car)....
A v6 4x4 Toyota Highlander in RED with Black tints. Although it would be hard to find the color I want, I have months to look for it. Let the searching begin....
Edit
Actually it doesnt matter if its 4x4 or 4x2 as long as its the v6 one

Be careful with dropping a turbo on an IS300. I was just talking to a friend about that and you'd need to do a whole lot of drivetrain replacements. The stock stuff can't handle the HP I guess.

The IS300 takes boost VERY easily, not sure where your friend got that idea from.

I personally can't give much insight into the toyotas because I'm a domestic guy, but I'll say this, Good luck and whatever you do don't rush the process on your first car. The market thrives on impluse buyers. Especially first time buyers.
