CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 512K 90nm (939) Winnie
MOBO: Asus A8n SLI-Deluxe, PCI-e
GPUs: not sure... need help...
RAM: GSKILL 1GBLE Kit (512x2) DDR-PC4400
HD: 1x160gig maxtor 1x 36gig 1500rpm cheetah

cpu will be cooled by a watercooled 226wat tec.... so im looking for some high overclocks.....

If you can afford this kind of setup go with the best damn PSU out there. I would go with the Antec 550w EPS12V. I jsut got all the goods and decided to go with a mac mini, so i quit all the gaming and get my life back on track to school and such. I'm gonna pm you, pls check it.

Either the 3000+ or 3200+ are good choices. Both will yield rioughly the same OC, but it will be a bit tougher w/ the 3000+ (need much higher HTT ). If you are watercooling, though, you should be fine.

I would rather get a single 6800gt than 2 6600gts. It will be a much better performer in high resolutions and cost around the same (if the #$!@ing prices would come back down). Why not just buy an nForce4 Ultra board?

Just get value RAM (corsair or mushkin). Running a divider will really not hurt performance noticably, and you could save a few bucks there. My cheap ($135) mushkin RAM OCs to 230 easily, though I have at 212 now...

I would also skip the SCSI (isn't that meant more for servers? Does your mobo support it? I think you will need a seperate SCSI adapter card) cheetah drive. It is really overkill for a gaming PC and you would likely not notice much oif a speed improvement by buying it (definately not FPS-wise) - maybe loading times, but only by a couple seconds).

Edit: Yes, a quality PSU is a must. Antec, enermax, Fortron, and sparkle are all great companies. Though wattage isn't too important, try to get at least 450W and more importanly, high amps on the 12 volt rail (at least 24). fortron has some excellent dual 12V rail PSUs tht are great performers and not too expesive, might be worth a look.

Ram is the best you can buy, G.Skill LE, articles and user reports have proved it.

I just don't understand people who are buying a $239 SLI MB and then putting low end parts in it. To me, the only people who should be buying the A8N are those who will put at least a 3500+ with a 6800GT in it, and leave one slot open for the future. The A8N is not an OC dream, right now, it's so so.

The other system idea is the popular MSI NEO2 Platinum, with a 3500+ or 4000+, 6800GT, and the G.Skill. Now that system will OC up to 290mz and scream. The upgrade path to this system would be to buy a faster CPU in a few months. Take me for example, I've got an FX53, and plan on getting the FX57.

All AMD chips OC very well, so the more money you spend, the higher OC you will get.
