You should probably work it out but I could kick myself for waiting to buy so long because with the increase in property values if I had bought a small place 5-10years earlier I would have had a good chunk of change for a down on my last house. Considering the tax break and increase in value for similiar properties you usually make out a little better owning than renting. Granted the biggest increases/inflation of house prices occurred over the last 7 years. So this may not work out so clearly now.

Here in Northwest NJ houses are now going for about $200 a square foot up from about $100/sqft 7 years ago when I bought.

figure lunch, $5-6 a day for 5 days a week. thats $30 a week. breakfast at twice a week brings it to $37. gas is about $30 a week - $67, food for home is around $40-50 - thats $107-117. i also buy at least 1 can of soda a day and the days i don't eat breakfast i usually get a cookie or something out of the vending machine. so i'd say about $120 is about what i spend a week for food and gas. sometimes its less. i've been doing better and not spending as much lately, but its stilla good bit.
